Our latest research (with ⁦@Maxematician⁩ and Rennie Mirollo) was published in CHAOS today. We studied a model of identical particles moving on a sphere and used group theory and hyperbolic geometry to explain its amazingly low-dimensional dynamics.

Does anyone have access to 𝘎𝘦𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘳𝘺, 𝘗𝘩𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘤𝘴, 𝘢𝘯𝘥 𝘚𝘺𝘴𝘵𝘦𝘮𝘴 by Robert Hermann? It seems to explain how statistical mechanics is related to contact geometry, but I can't find it anywhere! There's nothing more enticing than an inaccessible book.

Optimal transport flows define particles evolutions which are classical gradient flows over the particles positions. Pairwise interaction potentials are ubiquitous in physics, biology and chemistry. Corresponds to non-local PDEs over the densities.

Certainly I would personally love to see Theory conferences adopt a version of this. Currently, simplified proofs, or worked examples of a general theory, are not really valued, yet they can be tremendously important to maintain & pass on knowledge. Maybe blogposts can help here?
