If you want a get a good feel for the complexity and sheer number of innovations that were required to make #AlphaFold 2 work then check out this great introductory video by @xsteenbrugge https://t.co/b9mt45VJMH

Was great to be at #COP26 last week, talking about how AI can potentially help with the climate crisis by: 1. Optimizing existing infrastructure; 2. Building better predictive models; 3. Accelerating new technologies. Keen to do our part to contribute to this global effort!

We have no plans to, but LC0 is the spiritual successor to AlphaZero and I'm sure will provide lots of great analysis of the games. Looking forward to watching the match!

To clarify, this does not affect the already open-sourced AlphaFold2 & database, but relates to new work useful for drug discovery. The DeepMind Science team continues to expand and pursue its own groundbreaking scientific work in biology, chemistry, physics, and other fields

It was a huge pleasure and honour to give the Kendrew lecture (talk now posted online) and visit the hallowed halls of the @MRC_LMB. Thrilling to see so many scientists making use of #AlphaFold to accelerate their important research - a dream come true! https://t.co/xf0KRdD4y6

This is the first time I’ve publicly talked about #AlphaFold and the database (since CASP14 last year), the section on AlphaFold starts at 21:30. Also there is part 2 of the lecture where John Jumper covers the methods in more detail here: https://t.co/b1dUiSzjoR

Predicting the weather accurately is important for climate and environment planning. Really proud to see our SOTA generative model for predicting rainfall 1-2 hours ahead (nowcasting) published in @nature. Great work from @shakir_za & team in collaboration w/the @metoffice

We’ve had lots of wonderful feedback already from scientists using the #AlphaFold database to help their work in everything from peptide binding to disorder prediction. If you found it useful, we'd love to hear from you at alphafold@deepmind.com to help inform our future work.

The #AlphaFold 2 papers on the methods and human proteome predictions are out today in hard copy in @Nature! A really proud moment to see our work featured with a fantastic image on the front cover of the issue: https://t.co/tqKc7xmj98

Great review piece on #AlphaFold 2 by @MoAlQuraishi: "The result is both a tour de force of technical innovation and a beautifully designed learning machine, easily containing the equivalent of six or seven solid ML papers but somehow functioning as a single force of nature."

Congratulations to both players on a hard fought great match. Exciting to see the fresh & original chess played with No-Castling. It was one of the most exciting variants explored by Kramnik & #AlphaZero. Look forward to more games (and maybe more variants) played soon!

Last year we presented #AlphaFold v2 which predicts 3D structures of proteins down to atomic accuracy. Today we’re proud to share the methods in @Nature w/open source code. Excited to see the research this enables. More very soon! https://t.co/6uiV51Xly5 https://t.co/CLo7EKubBT

So amazingly cool to see two legendary former world chess champions play the No Castle chess variant explored by Kramnik and #AlphaZero ! Such an exciting game 1, with some incredible king travels. Good luck to Anand and Kramnik for the rest of the match!
